ABOUT
Founded in 1983, the ASUC Student Legal Clinic was established to help educate the Berkeley community about available legal options. Today, we continue with this tradition. The Clinic has proudly served the Berkeley community for over 30 years, providing free and confidential legal research catered to the particular issues our clients are facing. Clients can schedule a virtual appointment to discuss their legal questions, and our trained caseworkers will provide clientele with fully researched case reports, outlining possible legal options and pertinent information about their rights. In the spring, the Clinic also participates in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to provide eligible students and community members free tax-filing services. All of our caseworkers are IRS-certified tax preparers. The Clinic aims to foster a nurturing environment where caseworkers can interact with peers who share similar interests and hear from a wide range of guest speakers, including Berkeley Law admissions officers, local attorneys, and Cal alumni.
